Eagle Hill Equine Rescue is truly a community sponsored and supported organization. If it were not for all the help we receive from so many people, we would have never been able to find, provide for and place over 600 horses into everlasting homes in such a short time.
Many of our volunteers have a specific day to donate their efforts in support of our programs. Others who have hectic schedules just drop by and help out when they have a bit of extra time. Still others drive great distances and spend several days with us to help with specific projects. We also have off site volunteers who send out emails on upcoming events, write thank you notes for those who have kindly donated, help write grant requests, or do research on specific topics. We also have several volunteers who spend time in the fields taking photos of the horses or helping brush out manes and tails. All are welcome with open arms and are greatly appreciated.
We very much appreciate those who have riding and training experience that are willing to share their time and expertise working with Kelsi, a fantastic trainer, helping with ground training, halter training, and helping to gentle some of the more timid horses that need to gain confidence with their new human friends. Many of these volunteers exercise the horses in our riding arena, and help to continue their riding training.
Several of our helpers have never been around horses and are much more comfortable helping around the barn, cleaning buckets, organizing our often disorganized tack room, or updating our bulletin boards.
We are so pleased that several Boy Scouts have made some major improvements around the farm while earning their Eagle Scout badge. We not only appreciate their work, but advertise their efforts to help find extra hands to work side by side to the completion of their projects.
Youth groups schedule work days to paint fences, weed the round pen and riding ring or help make repairs. Since we are a non-profit organization, time spent helping out also counts toward community service hours that are often required by schools, church organizations and work related requirements. We also are approved to provide documentation on hours spent for the Congressional and Presidential Volunteer Program.
We have been blessed to have had professional contractors, and those working in the building industry volunteer a bit of time to help build run-in sheds, or do more complicated repairs. We thank them one and all.
Please consider joining our Volunteer Program and bring with you your special talents. The rewards are great and we can guarantee that you will leave knowing that your have helped make a real difference.
